Ever wanted to travel to the Dominican Republic? Well Ashley had the amazing opportunity to do so, and wants to share about her time there. This may inspire you to include the D.R. in your next travel plans!
1. What is your name and age? My name is Ashley Howard and I am 22 years old. 2. What country do you call home? The United States is where home is. 3. Which city{s}/country{s} did you recently travel to? I recently traveled to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.4. How long was the journey? We stayed there for 5 nights. 5. Why did you travel to this country? I had recently gave birth to my son so for Mother's Day my partner took me out of the country for the first time!
6. What native dish was your favorite to eat? I loved eating the infamous Mangu! "The Dominican breakfast".
7. What was the most unique thing you ate? I eat a lot of Spanish food here in the USA so there wasn't anything that was too unique, but everything was great! I'm really picky when it comes to food and I rarely try anything new, which sucks. 8. What was your most unique mode of transportation? The most unique mode of transportation was riding the ATVs! I had never been on one until then and let me tell you! I was nervous. 9. What was the weather like during your trip? The weather was really hot! I would say 87-95 degrees. It rained twice but it was very much needed.
10. Where was your favorite place to go in the city/country? Why? I loved going to the bar & the restaurants. I love eating so I never got bored! I also loved the jacuzzi by the beach.
11. What was the funniest thing that happened to you on this trip? The funniest thing that happened to me was how scared I was when we landed! I didn't trust anyone! I took pictures of licenses plates and the faces of the men who transported us to the resort. I was way too paranoid! 12. Did you learn anything during this trip? Yes! Although I already know that there are some people who are less fortunate than others, it was nothing like seeing it first hand. The children there would be in the middle of nowhere by themselves just sitting there. They would wave at us and run towards the cars just to sell us fruits! It really broke my heart to see that. I went back home and stressed to my younger siblings how blessed they truly are. My partner enforced the value of a dollar to them because he was in awe! 13. What was the best part of the trip? The best part about my trip to D.R. was literally everything! I was so happy and I felt free. I didn't have to worry about anything! The experience was beyond my expectations!14. What was the worst part of the trip? There wasn't anything bad about my trip to D.R. 15. What is the favorite picture you took during your trip?
16. How does this country compare to your home country? Were your expectations met, or did they differ completely? One thing that I can compare is the food! We eat the same food they eat in the D.R! The people were very nice and they know how to cater to you. 17. If you were to go to this country again, what would you do differently? I would try to go kayaking. Keyword: TRY. 18. If someone else was to go to this country, what advice or tips would you give them? Be prepared to be free and just have fun! Leave any baggage you have at home!
19. Anything else you want to share about your trip? Another thing I would love to share is that we got to swim in a cave! 20. Do you have any more travel plans lined up? Where to next? At the moment, I am trying to plan a girls trip to Mexico!
