Are Cruises Worth the Hype?: The Pros and Cons of Cruising

Ocean waves crashing against the ship. The breeze gently caressing your face. The sun spreading warmth throughout your body. The ideal beach vacation may have been your first thought. But what if it included multiple beaches with your transportation being a city on the water? That’s an option when it comes to cruising, but is it worth it to book?

There’s been a long time debate on whether cruises count as travel. At the end of the day, I don’t see why this is a debate. Choose what makes the most sense for you and yours and keep it pushing. Travel doesn’t come in one form, nor does one form take hierarchy over others. I’m a strong proponent of using vacation days. My motto: I work to live; I do not live to work. Any opportunity I receive to travel, best believe that opportunity seized. Unfortunately, we all know life is too short and tomorrow is not guaranteed. So live that life now!

It’s honestly the perfect spot for a quick weekend getaway if you don’t have a lot of time and/or don’t want to go too far, especially if you’re a fan of the outdoors. So let me introduce you to the Sassafras Treehouse if you’re ready for an Atlanta getaway.

Soaring above California Clouds in a Hot Air Balloon

As someone scared of heights, I’ve definitely thought about riding hot air balloons, but never thought I would actually do it. How sturdy is that basket? How high does one go up? Is the wind really the one in charge? I’ll answer those questions and more throughout this post. For my 30th birthday, I faced my fear of heights and experienced a hot air balloon ride. I didn’t conquer my fear, but because I was willing to put myself outside of comfort zone, I was able to experience a magical ride above the clouds.

Exciting 4-Day Nashville Itinerary

Looking for a Nashville itinerary to help you maximize your time in the city? Welcome to the right spot! When you think of Nashville, the following comes to mind: country music, cowboy boots, and bachelorette parties. We participated in none of those, so stick around if those don’t interest you. Before sharing the itinerary though, let’s talk about how I, a non country music lover, even ended up in Nashville in the first place.

A Day in the Life in Antarctica

If visiting the 7 continents is a bucket list item, then you’ll eventually make your way to Antarctica. Curious to know what a day in Antarctica looks like? I’m sharing what my typical day looked like when I was onboard the Ocean Endeavor with Intrepid. I also published two other posts on the continent. The Ultimate Antarctica Packing Guide

I’ll be honest with you. I didn’t expect to be able to say that I’ve visited Antarctica so early in my life. It seems like such a faraway concept and place, but I was able to make it happen. Read about that here. You can imagine I was pretty frantic about what to pack, especially since I live in Georgia, United States (hello warm weather almost all the time) and since I was only planning to bring a carryon. Somehow I managed to pack everything I needed and then some. I’ll share exactly what I packed, what I could have left behind, and if I felt like I missed anything. Without further ado, the ultimate Antarctica packing guide.

Year in Review: 2022 Year Highlights

How wild is it that 2022 has ended and we’re already into the second month of 2023?! Although the days seems to go by slowly, the years seem to go by in a blink of an eye. Make it make sense. 2022 has been filled with laughter and tears; joy and frustration; healing and pain. I travelled to several new countries and two new continents. I spent time with some of my favorite people, and also made new friendships along the way. Through it all, I have so much to be grateful and thankful for during this past year. Let’s take a look back at the 2022 year highlights.

Unexpected Grief During Travel

Grief is not something we human like to talk about. It makes us uncomfortable, and if we’re the ones sharing, we hesitate because we don’t want to make others feel uncomfortable. At least, I know that’s the case for me. If you didn’t know, I am the middle child in my family. I have an older brother and a younger sister. Or should I say, I had an older brother. In November of 2015, my brother passed away unexpectedly. A lot of what happened that night and the following few weeks are a blur. Death in general is devastating – no one tells a family how to function when they lose their 25 year old son and brother. As time goes on, grief comes in waves. Sometimes it’s expected; sometimes it’s not. Today, I’m sharing my stories of unexpected grief during travel.
