Who doesn’t love taking challenges and quizzes? Luckily I came across this challenge, and I’ve decided to continue passing the baton. Not only is this a fun way to learn about yourself and your travel preferences, but it’s also a great way for others to learn more about you as well! Answering Around the World Food‘s interview questions….here I go:
1. If you had to give up your passport and get another country’s passport, what would you pick?
Well, I have two passports so assuming I’d have to give both of them up, I would choose to get a French passport. My favorite city is Paris, so it only makes sense that I’d choose France!
2. Best meal you’ve eaten anywhere?
The first meal that comes to mind is from when I was visiting Salzburg, Austria. I was eating at this restaurant called Keller, and I had the spaetzle. It is seriously the only meal that pops into my head all the time, wishing I could go back and eat it again!
3. Most creative thing you’ve ever done to save money during your travels?
I feel like I’m not that creative when it comes to saving money while travelling. I do small things like pack snacks and a reusable water bottle. If possible, I try to cook my own meals, but if that’s not possible, I’ll eat a big breakfast and lunch, and small dinner.
4. If you couldn’t ever travel again but could pick any city to be confined to, where would you pick?
Well, as I previously stated, Paris is my favorite city. If I was forced, I would choose to live there!
5. Are there any books you read as a child that inspired your travel interests? For example, I remember reading the Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley High and becoming obsessed with America.
I don’t know if this book inspired my travel interests, but now looking back it makes sense. I used to LOVE the book ‘Madeline’. I could honestly not get enough of that book, and to this day, I still enjoy reading it. In case you haven’t read this children’s book, the story follows a young girl living in Paris.
6. What was the first trip you took as an adult?
Adult is such a vague term. I actually looked it up and it’s defined as “a person who is fully grown or developed”. But that doesn’t give an age, or time period. So by that definition, ‘adult’ can be defined differently by each person. At 16 years old, I took a trip to London, England. But if we are counting ‘adult’ as 18 & older, then my first trip would be to Europe, specifically France, Germany, and Austria!
7. What’s something you pack that’s not absolutely essential but you like having it?
Some people might not consider chapstick essential, but I HAVE to pack it. If I don’t, you can bet that I’m buying one as soon as I can. Other than that, I’d have to say, my headphones are not necessarily essential, but they are definitely convenient to have around, especially during long travel days.
8. Any common travel/travel blogger wisdom that you disagree with? For example, I disagree with people who recommend traveling in low season.
This is one that I use to tell myself actually, ‘just wing it’. I now disagree with that “wisdom”. Although it’s important to be flexible and willing to go with the flow, it’s crucial to plan your trip in order to maximize the time you’re spending there.
9. What do you know now about traveling cheaply that you wish you’d known earlier?
I haven’t learned anything that is coming to mind. I research and research and research, and that ends up saving me money in the long run.
10. What perks have you managed to acquire while traveling by being friendly or asking for them (not related to being a travel blogger)? For example, a few days ago I was told my seat for a flight didn’t recline. I asked the gate agent if there were any other options and was reseated.
Once when I was staying with an Airbnb host, she made me breakfast each morning because we got along so well. The breakfast was supposed to be an additional charge, but each morning, I woke up to a spread of various breakfast foods without even asking.
11. Are your sleeping/waking times similar when you’re traveling to when you’re at home? What time do you get up and go to sleep while traveling?
In all honesty, the only thing that changes when I’m travelling is the time that I actually get out of bed. I normally wake up early in the morning regardless of where I am. When I’m home, I’ll spend time laying in my bed, checking my phone or reading. When I’m on the road, I get up within 15 minutes of me waking up, so I can shower and get my day started!
Well, there you have it! Now I’m passing the baton on to you! Should you choose to accept the challenge, answer the following questions and post the link in the comments below. I’d love to see how you answer your questions! So let’s figure out some of your travelling preferences:
1. What’s your favorite language, besides your native language?
2. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve eaten, and where did you eat it?
3. What’s your preferred place to stay: hotel, hostel, or Airbnb? Why?
4. What’s the most important thing that you’ve lost while travelling?
5. How long has your longest trip been?
6. What is one city or country that didn’t live up to your expectations? Why?
7. If you had to choose between a 7-day cruise or 7 days at an all-inclusive resort, which would you choose, and why?
8. Would you rather see a lot of places, or get to know one place really well?
9. What one place would be your ultimate bucket list destination?
10. What would be the best travel advice you would give others?
If you don’t plan on making a post about this, I’d love if you’d answer any one of the questions in the comments below! I look forward to reading your answers, whether it’s in a post, or in the comments 🙂
Oh, this is so fun! I used to love Madeline!
Madeline will always be my favorite children’s book!
I’m trying to convince my boyfriend that we should call our daughter Madeline whenever we’re ready to have children. I used to love her! He’s not with that movement tho. LoL
I probably won’t do all the questions, but I’ll answer one here. My favorite cities so far would be St. Augustine, Florida and Savannah, Georgia. I haven’t traveled outside the U.S. yet, though. Great answers on your part! I’d love to go to Paris!
Paris is truly amazing! I hope you’re able to go soon 🙂 I have yet to go to St. Augustine, and I’ve been to Savannah, but I’ve only really seen the pool. I’m ready to go back and really explore the historic city! I’ve only heard great things! Thanks for taking the time to read, and to answer a question 🙂
Paris is such a wonderful city, good choice!
The food in Salzburg is absolutely delicious. It’s fantastic that you had such a great meal there! I always order apful strudel for dessert in Austria.

I did have some of that strudel during one of our stops on The Sound of Music Tour. Quite delicious indeed! Thanks for reading 🙂
For someone who wants to travel but hasn’t, I love reading this!
I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed reading this post! I hope you’re able to travel somewhere exciting very soon 🙂
I have been eyeing up Austria for a while, you’re not the first person I’ve met to comment on their food scene, great tips! 🙂
Thank you! I hope you’re able to go one day to experience it yourself 🙂
I love this idea so had to participate! I’m new to travel blogging, but here’s my post 🙂
